Our family recently joined a group of families that has created a cooperative farm.  These pigs all named Kevin Bacon will become bacon when of age and of course pork chops and various other cuts. We all pitch in and help feed, maintain and build shelter for the piglets. We even scored a deal with our local brewery for the leftover hops and grains to feed the Kevin's. This past Sunday we gathered up pumpkins from the neighborhood that people wanted to get rid of, post halloween, and drove them over to the "Farm" for a pumpkin feast fit for the Kevin's. Twas pretty entertaining how fast the pumpkins disappeared and how excited the pigs where for the offering. The farm is housing chickens and may get goats for milk. It is truly fulfilling knowing how the animals are treated and cared for and the sense of community the farm creates.
