art forms in nature
I am completely fascinated and in love with the 19th century artist and zoologist Ernst Haeckel. He is most famous for his discovery, classification and drawing of Radiolaria, the most interesting and beautiful one cell organisms found in nature. He compiled over 4,000 individual drawings of these forms. Some of these monographs are included in his book titled "Art Forms in Nature". Haeckel was a pioneer in evolutionary theory and was a large contributor to the development of nonrandom form even before Darwin wrote "On the Origin of Species". He was a beautiful marriage between art and science.
